President Mahama

Next year is an election year so you can trust the politicians and their political parties to be employing all kinds of tactics in order to win the hearts of most Ghanaians.

As smart as our politicians are (as compared to how dumb most Ghanaians are), they’ve already begun their campaign of promises; with the government taking the lead.

Just this evening, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) announced in a press statement that Government has agreed to subsidize utility bills.  According to the statement, this is a surprise Christmas gift from government of Ghana to Ghanaians as a way of thanking them for their patience and tolerance during the ‘Dumsor’ season.

Nana Yaa Jantuah, chairperson of the commission said that the directive came from the office of the president after the commission had planned to increase the utility bills. She continued that “electricity tariffs will be decreased by 69.2% across board whereas water tariffs will be decreased by 67.2%.

These, she said, will help Ghanaians enjoy the Christmas very well; though ‘dumsor’ and water shortages would still be prevalent. According to the statement, the subsidies will take effect from December 14, 2015.

ScrewLife.Com also gathered that the office of the president still has other interesting Christmas gifts for Ghanaians and will be announced when the need arises.
