Ayittey Powers to Fight Manny Pacquaio on Boxing Day
Ayittey Powers and Manny Pacquaio are two of the world’s greatest boxers who have suffered major defeats this boxing season.
These defeats came at the hands of their arch rivals. Manny “Pacman” Pacquaio lost to the undefeated champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather in a bout that most boxing pundits labeled as the world’s greatest bout. The bout however didn’t live up to expectation despite the hype that came with it due to the fact that most people claimed it wasn’t interesting enough.
Some blamed Mayweather for running in the ring whiles others also blamed Pacquiao for not giving Mayweather a run for his money.
Ayittey on the other hand lost to his best friend and now his enemy Braimah Kamoko popularly called Bukom Banku. The bout was given all the publicity to the extent Ghanaians kept awake to catch a glimpse of history. Ghanaians were however disappointed because the bout looked one-sided with Ayittey Powers looking like bread dipped in water and giving himself up to be used as a punching bag.
Ayittey Powers requested a rematch with the explanation that his spiritual father Prophet T.B. Joshua had warned him not to fight initially. His failure to obey his prophet led to his loss.
He therefore requested the rematch to redeem himself. Bukom Banku accepted the challenge but later withdrew his decision to fight with reasons best known to himself. All efforts to convince Bukom Banku to fight proved futile. The promoters had no option than to seek a different opponent.
After further talks with the management of Manny Pacquaio, the ace boxer agreed to fight.
In an interview with Powers, he also accepted the challenge and sent out a warning that he would beat Pacquaio like his child even more than what Mayweather did to him. He also added that Pacquiao and his team should purchase large quantities of painkillers because he would beat the hell out of Pacquiao and convert him into a pagan.
