Dr.Kwabena-Donkor

Reports emerged this morning that the government of Ghana has ordered Ghana’s Power Minister-Dr. Kwabena Donkor to resign or be sacked—despite the Power Minister having confidently told Ghanaians in a press statement yesterday that he has solved the country’s long standing power crisis.

Early this year, the Power Minister during his appointment stated that if by the end of December he is unable to fix the worrying power problem in Ghana, he will resign.

While many are calling for the Power Minister to resign because the power crisis lingers on, the Minister came out yesterday to announce that; he has done his job as he has fixed the problem.

To arrive at this, he has for many months been fighting hard with himself to create a distinction between Load Shedding and Dumsor—and he says, he has solved Load Shedding. However, what exists today as a problem is Dumsor, which has nothing to do with his promise to resign.

Apparently, the government is not impressed with the smart distinction and has asked the Power Minister to resign or be sacked—for failing to end the power crisis, irrespective of whatever name he calls it.

But in a strange rebuttal,  Kwabena Donkor has stated that, he has done what he was mandated to do and if the government wants him to resign, then the head of the government-President Mahama should first resign for his increasing incompetence.

“I have fixed what many could not do and now I hear I am being threatened to leave? If anyone deserves to resign, then it’s surely not me but the one who has throughout the years become synonymous to incompetence,” he said.
