In Ghana’s last general elections, Presidential candidates had to cough out a whopping GH¢10,000.00 to the electoral commission as the nomination fee—that’s after paying similar fees, sometime higher at the party level before they could contest for the elections.

Looking at how much presidential candidates have to spend at party and national level without even taking into account their campaign budget, it’s one hell of a bank breaking exercise.

Therefore, it shocks most people why certain politicians with no chance of ever winning an election—and we are talking about the countless Independent Candidates and two people parties like Akua Donkor’s Ghana Freedom Party would easily throw away such huge cash for nothing.

Currently, we have Dr. Abu Sakara saying he will contest the upcoming presidential election as an Independent candidate, Hassan Ayariga also intends to do so—with their main parties also in the mix, no where near winning a presidential election in Ghana.

For someone, there ought to be some real benefits or reasons why any sane human being would just invest his or her hard earned cash and time this way when it’s obvious to even an unborn baby that the person will not win the election.

So ScrewLife.Com decided to dig digger to find the non-existing real reason why politicians with no chance of winning elections still go ahead to make a joke out of themselves and their bank balance.

Flip to the next page for the reasons…
