Growing up as a child, almost all of us were told by our parents and teachers that video games would destroy our lives and take us nowhere. Many people were grounded from playing video games when they got very low grades in school. They were encouraged to forgo video games and study very well so they could become important personalities in future. Well, now there’s good news for all game lovers.

One of Ghana’s leading universities, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), has announced that it will soon make video gaming an area of study in the school.

According to the university, video game is not bad as many were made to understand when they were kids. In a press statement issued early Tuesday morning announcing this, the institution said it has realized that video gamers are very good when it comes to decision making.

In view of that, the school has decided to train video game lovers to sharpen their decision making skills for the job market. This, according to KNUST, will open ‘doors’ for them since we are now in a computer world and most organizations require good decision makers as well.

Explaining further, the statement made it clear that by October 2016, the university would enroll students who are interested in offering Video Gaming as a course.

“This will be a 3 to 4-year theoretical and practical course. Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology is committed to providing every student with a set of video games including, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and Sega.”

“Come October 2016, applicants would have the option to opt for either Advanced Diploma in Video Gaming or Bachelor’s degree in Video Gaming,” the press statement pointed out.
