Following many years of high increase in unwanted pregnancy and subsequently unwanted children who end up on the street as a result of the annual Valentine Day s*x which has become a convention in Ghana—the Ministry of Health in Ghana has instituted a new scheme to help curb this problem.

As a result, the Ministry, lead by the Minister for Health-Alex Segbefia has announced this morning on Joy Fm that, the government’s scheme of distributing free Postinor 2 to all Ghanaian women who need it post Valentine will start today at all the various hospitals and clinics across the country.

Speaking on radio, Alex Segbefia said “it’s a known fact that Ghanaian women get their groove on when Valentine visits—and most of these women who are not looking for babies end up with children, burdening themselves, family and the already struggling economy.”

“Therefore, the government thought it wise to play it part in helping the citizens with free post Valentine distribution of Postinor 2 for everyone who has a needed for it,” he said.

He continued; “with several children on our streets, the only sane option is not to ask women to enjoy themselves on Valentine but to present them a post Valentine remedy that will surely give them a peace of mind and put the country on the road to development.”

As to why the government was giving out Postinor 2 for free instead of selling it, he said “to ensure that everyone has access to it, it ought to be free else those who need it most would be denied access.”
