ECG

Following several complaints by Ghanaians that the new set of ECG meters which went under installation a few years ago chew credits/units like Efo does to the neighbourhood stubborn cats—and run as fast as Usain Bolt, ECG has investigated and realize there’s a big problem.

According to the PRO of ECG, Madam Eunice Asiamah, the ECG meters are faulty to the extent that they are intentionally adjusted to run faster for people who use heavy electrical appliances such as bulbs, phone chargers and power banks. And also for people to pay back owed money.

“When people say the meters are faulty because they run fast, I do not disagree with them. But do these people want to use electricity for free when they are pushing the meters to run very fast with heavy appliances like power banks,” she asked.

Madam Eunice Asiamah continued; “we were in this country with our comfortable monthly bills when almost everyone in Ghana became smart and decided not to pay their electricity bills on time, some, never paid. So we brought in the new meters, well-adjusted to ensure that ECG gets all the money Ghanaians owe us back under the principle of collective responsibility.”

So it looks like, the ECG meters are only faulty to the extent that ECG has made them so—and from what our Energy Experts say, the only solution to fixing this problem is not to turn the meter on at all, then it will be reliably stable.
