A few days ago, it emerged that a certain pregnant student of Jirapa Midwifery Training College has been compelled to leave school because she is pregnant—as there’s a rule in place which states that pregnant students ought to leave for a year, irrespective of whether they can still study in their pregnancy or not.

Though this rule is a clear case of discrimination, a violation of the human rights of the female or pregnant students and contradicts domestic and international human rights legislation—authorities can’t seem to be bothered and several Midwifery and Nursing Training Colleges in Ghana are reported to have these rule in place.

Now, it has emerged that, the female principal of Jirapa Midwifery Training College is pushing the students to become lesbians—for the fear that being with men could get them pregnant, which would fetch the consequence of being forced to abandon their education.

A student told us that; “our principal must be down with lesbianism, because that’s the only safe relationship available for all of us. We are so scared, even the married women here. Because, if you make the mistake or become unlucky and get pregnant, that’s the end of your education.”

She continued; “as human beings, we also have sexual desires and therefore, lesbianism seems to the only reasonable option.”

The principal, nicknamed the wicked wh*re, keeps warning, scaring and kicking pregnant students out of their education, an exercise which discourages heterosexual relationships and encourages same s*x relationship.
