President Mahama

President Mahama

The Chinese have fairly constructed many of the roads in Accra, forgetting to add drainage systems and the various governments that awarded them the contracts did not also see it necessary to have wide gutters.

Once again, a heavy down pour has flooded Accra—the annual ritual which killed over 100 people in the June 3 disaster has just started and most Ghanaians are worried.

Swimming instructors are on a high demand in Accra, because people’s houses have suddenly become luxurious swimming pools.

And after many years of failing to do anything about the poor drainage systems in Accra which is the major cause of the flood, President John Dramani Mahama has been well served today by his own incompetence—the roads from his residence to the Chinese Embassy, constructed by a Chinese Constriction Company without well placed gutters was heavily flooded, forcing the president to cancel a scheduled meeting with the Chinese Ambassador.

According to reports, the President flown into the country a few days ago because of this important meeting, which would have been attracted by certain Chinese investors looking to invest in Ghana’s Guinea Fowl industry.

But the flooded road meant that, president Mahama couldn’t drive to the meeting—and instead of taking the option most Ghanaian commuters have been taking so far, that’s to swim—he decided to cancel the meeting and sit on facebook, to monitor the insults that will come his way as Accra has once again flooded, contrary to his promise of it not happening this year.
