Ghana-Mortuary

A KNUST law graduate-Osei Assibey Edward was reportedly rushed to the Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi last night after his elder sister walked in on him, attempting suicide—with his suicide note already written with a red pen.

According to Tracy Osei Assibey, the elder sister of Edward who spoke on Kumasi based OTEC Fm, his brother has been posted to work at Kintampo Mortuary and apart from the fact that he does not even know where Kintampo is, he has never seen a dead body before and cannot work with dead bodies for an entire year as the National Service Secretariat is demanding.

Per the suicide note, Assibey said: “I am sorry to be doing this but after 4 years of extensive and late night studies, I am disappointed that those in charge of the National Service posting think I am only valuable to work at the Kintampo Mortuary. I cannot do this job, I will die before the one year service ends and since Mum says nothing can be done to change my posting, I think I should leave for the mortuary this way, on my own.”

Though Edward was unsuccessful with his suicide, his family says they are worried as to what he will do next—and they cannot confidently even leave him alone in a room.
