After the gruesome manner in which Capt. Maxuel Mahama was lynched to death, many issues have been raised regarding the fact that killing anyone through lynching (even if the person is a suspected criminal) is not the best way to go about things.

Addressing the issue on Citi Fm’s “Big Issue”, Information Minister, Mustapha Hammeed  said “The Nana Addo-led Administration will not allow lynching to go on. We will support the families of those who have been lynched so far. We will set up a committee to attend to this and pay them well.”

According to Mustapha, the government will do everything possible to minimize cases of lynching. Measures to be put in place include beefing up the response unit of the Police Service and introducing award schemes for citizens who arrest thieves and hand them over to national security.
