Houseflies

Houseflies

If you ever thought it’s only humans who enjoy rights and privileges, better think again because animals also have rights; and they ought to be respected.

Animal rights activist Paul Tomas has filed a lawsuit against a Ghanaian self-styled photographer – Julius Boadu – for invading the privacy of two mating houseflies.

The lawsuit, which is the first filed under a new rule that gives privacy to animals, states: “Human beings have for decades not allowed animals enjoy their privacy. Just as with humans, privacy is very essential for animals.”

According to the lawsuit, Paul alleges that the photographer disrespected the two houseflies who were enjoying themselves one early morning.

The lawsuit continues: “The two houseflies remain upset, distressed and emotionally hurt because they could not finish what they had already started because of the photographer’s silly action.”

Paul said: “Houseflies are extraordinarily intelligent and subjecting them to this kind of treatment is unconscionable and illegal.”

However, Mr. Boadu argued that he’s the bona fide owner of the rope on which the houseflies were having seks so if anything at all, the houseflies should rather be charged for trespassing.

Even though the rope belongs to the photographer, Paul also argued in the lawsuit that Mr. Boadu should have informed the houseflies before taken the picture.

“They were caught unaware as they were performing some doggy moves. Now, the picture has gone viral and everybody has seen the nakedness of the two lovers. We’ll first plead with the court to put an interlocutory injunction on circulation of the picture,” Paul told ScrewLife.Com.

First hearing of the case comes off on December 20, 2015. Paul has partnered with Foundation for Insects Rights in Ghana (FIRG), an independent organization that protects and preserves insects’ rights across the country.
