A Lady Sleeping

Germany, a great country by all standards but be prepared to go to jail if you mess up with their laws. Unlike Ghana where nothing is taken serious, Germany isn’t like that – they are very strict when it comes to applying laws.

It is easy to annoy your neighbors in Ghana and go scot-free but you must be prepared for a tough legal battle when you annoy your neighbors in Germany.

Love your neighbor as yourself, they say, but the recalcitrant nose of one Ghanaian in Hamburg couldn’t allow her to follow this simple instruction which has landed her in serious trouble.

The 29-year-old Ghanaian lady is currently in Police custody for continuously disturbing her neighbors at night with her heavy snoring.

The Ghanaian, whose name was given to ScrewLife.Com as Akosua Konadu, stays alone in a single-room apartment at Bergdorf – a suburb of Hamburg – with four other apartments close to hers.

According to information we received, Akosua violated the quiet time law which states that residents should observe quiet time from 8 p.m. until 7 a.m. the next morning. Even though the law states that a little quiet snoring is allowed, Akosua Konadu’s own is being described by the police and her neighbors as excessive.

In a statement signed by the 4 German neighbors, the heavy snoring by Akosua does not allow them to sleep peacefully at night. According to them, they’ve already warned “our sister” so many times but to no avail.

In describing the intensity of the snoring to the police, one neighbor – Brigitte – said “sometimes I feel like my house is collapsing. I once tried conquering her snoring by playing loud songs but I didn’t succeed because the sound from her nose was louder than the volume of my home theatre.”

Speaking to ScrewLife.Com via phone, Akosua Konadu confirmed the arrest. According to her, her husband has jilted her because of this same problem and this makes her sad because she doesn’t know why she snores so loud.

“I’ve been to hospital so many times but the doctors told me there was nothing wrong with me. This is not the first time I have been arrested. The police will definitely fine me for this but I have no other option than to pay,” she said.

In bidding farewell to Akosua, we asked her to give us a short freestyle of how she snores in order to verify the loudness for ourselves.

As we publish this story, our phone’s speaker is damaged beyond repairs.
