John Dumelo

Yesterday GhanaCelebrities.Com published an article that suggested Ghanaian actor – John Dumelo – may have bought his Facebook followers because the engagement levels on his page do not indicate that his followers are real humans.

While there’s no app to single out likely fakes among Facebook followings, one can search for suspicious activity by checking the interaction levels on the suspicious pages. If a page has seen a sudden increase in page likes, but is getting very little interaction on their posts, they’ve probably purchased fans.

If it’s the first time you’re hearing this, you shouldn’t be surprised because countless celebrities buy their social media followers just to boost their self-esteems. In the long run, such celebrities are able to deceive companies with their assumed huge fan-base for contracts.

Few hours after the story went viral, ScrewLife.Com is told Facebook decided to critically look into the matter before some individuals tarnish their image.

After the investigation, Facebook came to a conclusion that over 70% of John Dumelo’s 3 million followers were bought from India – such a big shame.

According to the 5 page report released by Facebook, Uncle John a.k.a Girls’ Professor has breached Facebook’s ‘Terms of Use’ and so needs to be penalized.

The report states that Facebook will soon take legal action against the Ghanaian actor for deceiving several companies, Ghanaians, Facebook, and the world as a whole. He would be required by law to pay a sum of $50,000,000 to Facebook even before the case goes to court.

In addition to that, the actor’s Facebook page would be shut down completely.

Even though John Dumelo has received a copy of the report, he refused to comment on the issue when we contacted him for his side of the story.

He only quizzed: “Am I the only celebrity with fake followers? I’m even planning to buy more. F*ck Facebook.”
