Parliamentarians in Ghana are angry about the state of the chairs they sit on during deliberations in the house of parliament—saying, their seats are too hard and therefore uncomfortable for proper sleeping.

Members of Parliament in Ghana are globally known for their sleeping excellence which the President of the country-John Dramani Mahama recently acknowledged in a public speech with pride.

Despite the long hours most of the MPs comfortably sleep and sometimes with the speaker of parliament being the only one with his eyes opened, the MPs have today complained to the incumbent government to change their seats as it has become harder for them to sleep for long  hours these days.

But the majority leader says his colleagues are being ungrateful because under the previous government, it was not only the chairs that made it difficult for MPs to sleep—the air condition units were mostly faulty so the longest a person could sleep for was just 4 hours.

Now, his government has fixed all the air condition units and the seats have been also well cushioned with excellent back rest—making it comfortable for the MPs to sleep for over 6 hours.

Speaking to ScrewLife.Com, he said “this is pure propaganda by the opposition to discredit the excellent sleeping conditions the NDC government has brought into parliament. We have built the seats such that your head gets a good rest when sleeping.”

He continued “my government is currently talking to a Chinese company based in Afghanistan to provide several expensive duck feather pillows for Parliament since the MPs have complained about hurting their necks after each sleeping session. My government is a listening government and we have already signed a contract for these pillows to be brought in.”

Meanwhile, the minority in parliament led by the minority leader has threatened to boycott parliament if the chairs are not changed and if the pillows are not made available within the shortest possible time.

The minority leader showed us the below photo of parliamentarians in Uganda, peacefully and comfortably sleeping in large numbers—and said; this is what we want down here too. We are not getting enough sleep.
