Joy Dadi Bitters

Alcoholic beverages have always been popular among many Ghanaian adults, especially men. Some drink them all day, while others keep their drinking time regulated. Of course, there are no problems if we find balance in everything we do. Putting too much, if not all of our time into any one thing, however, can lead to a bad situation, even addiction.

John Kofi Boadu, a mechanic and self-styled man of God in Kumasi, is reported to have killed his 16 years old son for drinking his last bottle of Joy Dadi Bitters.

According to reports available to ScrewLife.Com, Mr. Boadu is a chronic drinker who does not joke with his Joy Dadi Bitters. A visit to his house would confirm this, as he usually packs several bottles of this natural medicine in his kitchen cabinet.

On Saturday night, Mr. Boadu got home from work looking for the bitters he bought with his hard-earned money since that was the only one left. Unknown to his family, the self-styled pastor and mechanic was already angry since he had heavily lost a football bet that evening.

His son, Fred Boadu, who was extremely hungry and had no food to eat because his father did not leave any money for the family mistook the bitters for a new variety of Coca-Cola.

According to Fred’s mother, Fred misidentified the bitters for Coca-Cola so went ahead to buy bread and took it with the Joy Dadi Bitters since he was hungry.

This infuriated Mr. Boadu because that was the only bottle of Joy Dadi Bitters left in his kitchen cabinet. Without saying a word, he went to the kitchen, picked up a knife and stabbed his son in the chest multiple times.

Fred, who was drank as a result of drinking the alcoholic beverage, died on the spot.

When dragged to the police station, the police ordered Mr. Boadu to give his son a befitting burial and sign a bond to be of good behavior. Failure to do so would lead to his arrest and prosecution.
