After Nana Yaw, a courageous taxi driver who managed to knock down two armed robbers with his cab at Cantonments, was promised a new car and a 3-bedroom house by the President, the Ghana Private Roads and Transport Union (GPRTU) has decided to take it upon itself to train drivers in the union how to also knock down robbers and be rewarded by the state.

According to the Union, the time has come for its members to also benefit from the state and the only way out is to start knocking down armed robbers mercilessly with taxis.

In an interview with Kumasi based Nhyira FM, national chairman of the union, Mr. Kwame Kuma, said in a country like Ghana, it’s uncommon to see a taxi driver build a house because the economy does not favor taxi drivers.

Explaining further, Mr. Kuma said the only possible way for a taxi driver to get a house of his own in this hard economy is to knock down armed robbers. This, he said, GPRTU drivers will soon start.

According to him, the union will soon be organizing series of workshops to vigorously train its taxi drivers on how to scout for armed robbers and knock them down with their cabs, including paralyzing them.

“This is the year of blessing for Ghanaian taxi drivers. We are committing ourselves to help fight robbery in this country. Effective February 1, 2016 when we commence this new task dubbed #Operation_Knock_Down_Robbers, we won’t pick passengers again. Instead of picking up passengers, our drivers will be roaming around hunting for armed robbers and knocking them down, Mr. Kuma opined.

When asked about the upcoming workshops, the national chairman made it known that the union is yet to come up with the dates. However, he pointed out that the first seminar will be themed ‘The Year of Success: Knock Down Two Armed Robbers For A Free 3-Bedroom House’, with Nana Yaw, the heroic taxi driver, as the guest speaker.
