Wanted Chinese Criminal On the Run Sends Police Better Selfie to Use On Wanted Poster As He Doesn’t Like the One They Used
A Chinese man wanted for raping two women and has been on the run for more than 6 months has shocked police in Beijing this weekend—when he sent an email to a police detective with a new smiling photo of himself.
The man, popularly known as Xing Zing is wanted in Beijing for rape charges leveled against him by two of his flatmates on the same night—and has been on the run with special Chinese police forces on his tail.
Several posters of the man haven printed and circulated, using a photo obtained from his Chinese ID card—but Xing Zing in an email told the police that, that picture does not do justice to his appearance.
And as such, they should use the one he has attached; which shows him wearing a new white vest, a neatly cut hair and a big smile.
The shocked detective who received the email told Chinese newspaper-China Daily that, ‘Xing does not seem to appreciate the seriousness of his crime, he is rather concerned about his public image.”
He added “I have been a police officer for over 15 years and I can tell you this shocked me. For a wanted man to make conduct only to correct his image is unbelievable.”
Xing Zing had sent the photo from an internet café, a few yards away from Beijing’s central police station. However, when the police got there, he was long gone and remains on the run.
