Ghana Ports Says Abraham Attah Must Pay 30,000 GHS As Duty for the 10,000 Pairs of TOMS Shoes

Abraham Attah is the hottest Ghanaian celebrity in town and not just that, he has a good cause hanging over his head—out of his recent Oscars’ appearance.
During Abraham Attah’s Oscars red carpet appearance, he rocked a pair of TOMS shoes—behind this was a deal with the charitable shoe brand that they will donate 10,000 pairs of TOMS to children in need in Ghana as a result of Abraham’s showcase of the brand.
Now, the shoes have arrived at Tema Harbor and we are told, Abraham Attah is being asked to 30,000 GHS as port duty before the shoes can be cleared.
Apparently, even though Abraham Attah has explained to officers in charge that those shoes are for charity, the authorities at the port have said they don’t really care—and that they have bills to pay so something must be paid under the carpet to them.
As it stands now, Abraham Attah and TOMS are considering shipping back the container to United States since they are not ready to cough out this much money or pay anything behind the veil to the demanding officers.
