Independence Day Celebration Brochure

The first gentleman of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, is an astute communicator yet when it comes to communications at the presidency, there’s nothing good to write home.

Over the weekend, Ghana celebrated its 59th Independence Day and what could have been a glorious celebration turned to be a total mockery. What became the talk of town on March 6, 2016 was the error-laden brochure used on the day. Ghanaians and other foreign nationals were thrown into a state of shock when among other things, Kenya’s President, Uhuru Kenyatta, was listed as the President of Ghana.

Even though Ghana has become a laughing stock, a presidential staffer who spoke to ScrewLife.Com on condition of anonymity says the Communications Department at the Presidency did that on purpose.

On the authority of the presidential staffer, it was a publicity stunt planned by the department for the country to gain popularity in the international scene.

According to him, he (plus two others) protested against the idea but on the day, majority won so the department has to implement it.

“Is Ghana not being discussed globally now? Are people who haven’t heard about Ghana before not searching to read about the country? The answer is yes and that’s exactly what the department was seeking to achieve and it has achieved it now,” he said.
