GTV Sacks News Editor Who Gave the Go Ahead to Run the Fake Former South African President Thabo Mbeki Death Story Yesterday On Their 7 O’clock Bulletin

When it comes to unpardonable screen mistakes of this degree, we can all attest to the one single fact that GTV does not only take the cake, they in fact own the bakery.
We have had a fun filled satisfaction over the past years—sadly this very station that hallmarks itself with the slogan “Station Of The Nation” seem to have deviated from its core objective.
We have never asked for more of such humorous viewing but the station is way too generous that they serve us more as the clock ticks.
In a move that is not synonymous with GTV, the state broadcaster has sacked its news editor.
This comes after the backlash they received when the news team failed to check the authenticity of a news story they run on their 7 o’clock major news bulletin last night.
The story is palpably false, as seen by the fact that the website it’s seen on is cleverly disguised to look like a legit South African site but it is not.
More glaringly, reading the entire story would simply let you know it’s a hoax, as it ends with the very visible words…. … “and the narrator woke up from his sleep.”
Mrs Francisca Ashietey -Odunton, acting Director-General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, the parent company of GTV has in a statement said the blunder is an embarrassment to the state broadcaster and a dent on their hard earned image.
Mrs Ashietey -Odunton went ahead to criticise the lacklustre work done by her team to warrant such public outcry.
According to her, it took the intervention of some cabinet ministers otherwise she would have sacked the entire news team.
The action taken against the news editor has been applauded by a section of the public and it’s being lauded as a step in the right direction. However, it is widely believed this is just a ploy to get everyone to pay the infamous TV licence fee.
