A Treasurer at the Church of Pentecost, Dansoman Sankora branch called Owusuaa Gladys who threw a Kim Kardashian sort of wedding only for the church to later realise she stole their money for it has today been spared jail.

The church brought charges against her at Accra Central Circuit court for theft and deceit and despite pleas by her that God has forgiven her so the church should do the same, the church pressed on.

Delivering judgement today on the case, the presiding judge-Madam Adwoa Takyiwaa Anima said, this is the outcome of the pop culture churches in Ghana today are encouraging.

She said: “the elders of the church, having known Gladys and her husband’s situation should have even asked where the money was coming from. They failed their duty to the church and also to Gladys who was under pressure to live up to the expensive standard the church has been encouraging.”

The judge ordered Gladys to pay as low as 2 GHS each month to church.
