President Nana Addo has said that he promised to give Ghanaians a good life when President Mahama was putting them through hell.

In an interview with Oman FM, the President said “I agree with our former President Mahama when he says that I promised Ghanaians heaven.”

“Things were not going well, the economy was on its knees. I mean, GDP was going down and our debts kept increasing… the Economy was in shambles and like Jesus did when the whole world was condemned to death, I had to promise Heaven when Mahama was putting us through a living hell. So Mahama was right: I Promised Heaven When Ghana Was A Living Hell” he added.

He made this statement when the station, Oman FM, called him to speak to some assertions made by the ex-President, John Dramani Mahama at the World Economic Forum in Durban, South Africa on Thursday.

Mr. Mahama said  “I knew what the economy could give the people and I told the people the truth that we need more hard work to be able to get out of where we are; my opponent promised heaven and you have the constraints of not being able to promise all the rosy things he was doing… The people made a choice to vote me out”.

“If he [President Nana Akufo-Addo] is able to deliver on his promises, good; if he is not able too, the people would have learnt that not all that glitters is gold” he added.
