A Ghanaian premier league referee was reported dead at the Korle-Bu teaching hospital on Monday morning.

During a match between two Ghanaian Premier League clubs at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, the referee collapsed immediately after the match and was rushed to the Hospital. He died after 15 hours in coma.

The autopsy report revealed that a bad smell caused damage to the referee’s lungs few minutes before his collapse.

Addressing some media men, one of the assistant referees said that “when players were exchanging their jerseys after the game, the referee shouted and held his nose when passing by one of the players. After walking a few meters, he collapsed.”

All names have been withheld for security reasons as policemen have begun their investigations. The policemen have however been warned to wear nose masks when interaction with any of the players.
