Zambian Pastor Refuses to Bless Couple’s Marriage Because They Came in An Excavator

Zambian couple who could not afford the increasing cost of a normal wedding but still wanted to be able to say they have also had a white wedding were turned away from a church they’ve been a member of for almost 10 years—because, the pastor regarded their mode of wedding transport (above) disgraceful.

A friend to the father of the bride-Joseph Alingto had already hired two excavators for his building project, and one of these machines was borrowed to smoothly sail the couple into their near by church.

Though the couple were excited; as all that mattered to them was the love they share—the resident pastor of ‘God is Love Ministries,’ turned them away.

The pastor-James Mwanza asked the couple to stay outside and told the congregation that, marriage is not a joke so if the two cannot afford a simple wedding, they had no business getting married.

After waiting for over 2 hours outside while chit-chatting in their lovely Excavator, the couple realized they were not going to get the church’s blessing—and asked the driver to move them to their home, where they spent the rest of the day with a few family members, reports Zambia’s national newspaper.

This denial of service by pastor James Mwanza has attracted mixed reactions, with some saying, he had no business turning the couple away—and others saying, what he did was right because wedding should not be turned into some comedy.
