With the absence of the Ghana Premier league, many have worried that players, coaches and referees will become unemployed. Though this may be true, affected referees now have an escape route.

President Akuffo Addo, in a recent statement said that in order to allow the Ghanaian referees do what the y do best– fixing matches, the government will set up a match company to absorb all of them.

“We use a lot of matches daily. It is used to light cigarettes, to cook, light candles and do all sort of things. So we will make enough revenue as a nation if we should set up a factory. Since referees are good at fixing matches on the field, I believe they will be the best for this job too” a source from the presidency said.
