The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) often take drastic measures, such as borrowing electricity from other countries- to give Ghanaians a little respite during an important season- such as during the African Cup earlier this year.

This Christmas season however, Ghanaians are to get no such reprieve from the power generator. The company is keeping to its dumsor schedule with alacrity, even worsening it is some instances.

Since some of their employees would be going off during Christmas, ECG has employed part time workers all across the country, to keep their schedule throughout the holidays.

According to head of communications, Anthony Dzaba- the fact that Christmas is here does not mean they should not carry out their duties.

“The power situation is still dire, and the load shedding schedule is crucial in managing our power grid.” He told Screwlife.Com.

“Therefore with most of our workers going on holidays, more hands on deck are needed to keep the dumsor going”.

According to Dzaba, this is a good opportunity for people who have lost their jobs due to the crippling effect of the power crisis on the economy, to make some cash to celebrate the Christmas.

“For those who have been laid off from their jobs due to dumsor, or had their businesses destroyed- this is a very good opportunity to make some quick cash for the holidays.

“Besides, they can also have some fun destroying the happiness of many Ghanaians with the light outs, just as their happiness was destroyed when they lost their jobs” he added.
