Gov’t of Ghana to Implement 1Year Jail Sentence For Anyone Who Celebrates Vals Day Next Year

Valentine’s Day, an annual festivity associated with love and celebrated on February 14, is not only popular in Ghana but the world as a whole. Each year on this day, many people exchange cards, chocolates, gifts or flowers with their special “valentine.” Equating love with sekx, numerous individuals choose this day as a perfect one to have intercourse with their lovers – whether married or not.

Just this morning, the government of Ghana has issued a statement condemning the abuse of St. Valentine’s Day.

The statement which is signed by the President, John Dramani Mahama, states that many young ones involve in all kinds of premarital seks on Valentine’s Day and this has over the years resulted in unwanted pregnancies. This, the government says put unnecessary pressure on the state because these unwanted children ought to feed on the state’s little resources.

Government has therefore decided to put an end to this by banning the celebration of Valentine in Ghana with effect from the year 2017. According to the statement, anybody who will violate the law and celebrate valentine will spend a year in prison.

When ScrewLife.Com got in touch with General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, he said this is the best decision government has taken so far.

“The economy is hard and government ought to work assiduously to make the citizens enjoy. When people give birth anyhow because of a certain Valentine’s Day celebration, it becomes very difficult for the government to sustain the economy. I think this is one of the best decisions government has taken. I don’t even see the need for people to be buying gifts for their lovers when they can use the monies to support government,” General Mosquito said.
