Supreme Court

The supreme court of Ghana has been compelled by mounting pressure by members of the ruling party-NDC and certain ministers of state to revisit its decision which led to the court sentencing the infamous Montie Fm’s three musketeers to 4 months in prison.

In a legally unusual development, the court has stated that after a carefully re-examination of the facts against the sentence, they’ve realized they erred.

In a press release signed by the court clerk of the Supreme Court, the judges agreed after their re-evaluation that; “we’ve come to the honest conclusion that we erred in our sentencing of the three persons who tainted the integrity of this court and even threatened to kill justices of the noble court.”

“We wish to state that, the 4 months prison sentence was a mistake—they deserve at least 1 year,” the statement added.

Commenting on this; presiding judge Sophia Akuffo stated that “even God cannot tell the supreme court what to do” and those in disagreement with the verdict can bring the Pope to sign a petition which wouldn’t even change a thing—because their words are constitutionally final.
