Otiko Afisa Djaba

Minister Designate for Gender, Otiko Djaba says she is willing to do her National Service as a Minister–following the minority in parliament’s disapproval of her as a Minister after vetting, during which it came to light that she did not undertake the on year compulsory national service.

“I am willing to serve the nation at all cost. If I am being rejected by the minority because I haven’t done my National Service, then I will do it as a minister,” she said on Citi Fm.

She continued: “the gender ministry is one that has to be headed by a woman with passion, and I believe this act will show how passionate I am about the job.”

What this means is, Otiko Djaba will not receive her allowance as a minister for a year. Instead, she will be paid as a National Service Personnel (i.e. GHC559/mnth).

Otiko Djaba’s nomination as Minister for gender has stalled because the minority in Parliament have issues with her temperament and the fact that she hasn’t done her national service.
