The Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah has said that beggars on the streets of Accra  will start paying taxes to the Assembly next year.

“These people make a lot of money from passers by and I believe that taxing them will bring us a lot of revenue.” He said in an interview with Starr FM on Saturday morning.

The news has not been received well by the public and some of the beggars have promised to go on a demonstration.
