Enoch Teye Mensah

What a wow! History has indeed been made at Ningo Prampram Constituency and this will certainly be documented in the 2015 Guinness Book of Records for future generations.

Enoch Teye Mensah, affectionately known as Ningo Mugabe, on Sunday, November 22, 2015, lost the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries to his acolyte, Samuel Nartey George, in what was described as the fiercest race in the NDC primaries.

Certified results declared by the Electoral Commission (EC) showed Sam George won the parliamentary primary with 4,910 votes while Ningo Mugabe had 2,831 votes representing 63.4 per cent and 36.5 per cent respectively.

Few days before the election, Sam George declared he was going to retire the long serving Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram from his seat.

This, according to Ningo Methuselah, cannot be possible even though he has lost the primary on NDC ticket. The man whose obsession for political power transcends that of Zimbabwean president – Robert Mugabe – says he’ll contest for the seat as independent candidate.

According to him, the Ningo Prampram seat belongs to none other than him.

In his congratulatory speech, E.T. Mensah said he would do anything humanly possible to retain the Ningo Prampram seat in the 2016 general elections.

Shockingly, the Ningo Methuselah who has been an MP for almost 20 years said he cannot forgo all the benefits he get as an MP – talk of the free fuel, V8, laptop, and other several allowances.

Describing Sam George as not fit for the position, he said:

“How do you expect someone like Sam George to be in parliament taking decisions on your behalf? He’ll be of no use there. I’m bouncing back as an independent candidate to contest him. I know the people of Ningo Prampram love me even though I have not been able to provide the best for them,” he lamented.

He therefore called on all his supporters to keep calm and remain faithful to him because all hope is not lost.

“Until Mugabe steps down as president of Zimbabwe, I’m not going to step down as MP for Ningo Prampram,” E.T. concluded.
