The social media craze is really getting uncountable teenagers into trouble, with most of the young ladies competing for followers, likes, and comments.

It is shocking to find out that several teenagers have nothing better doing with their precious lives except taking pictures and posting them on Instagram. This has become a daily routine for a lot of people, including some celebrities.

Often times, such individuals portray a particular way of life they themselves have never experienced before. To them, social media is just a tool for throwing dust into the eyes of the observing public. Living a very posh life on social media has become the order of the day, whereas in reality, such individuals are nowhere near the kind of lifestyle they portray on social media.

It is highly probable that you can see a very pretty lady on Instagram, admire her, and even die to meet her. But the moment you meet such an individual in real life, you begin to ask yourself if it was the same person you saw on Instagram because in reality, she has not added any filter to her face like she would have fine-tuned her pictures on the social networking platform.

Earlier today, Karen, a 19-year old student of the Cincinnati University Medical School, was found breathless in her bedroom after attempting to commit suicide.

Karen, who posts pictures of herself on Instagram every day, prior to her suicide attempt complained to her friends about how depressed she was because after 4 years of being very active on the social networking platform, not even a single soul had liked her pictures before.

She therefore told her friends that if it continued that way, she would end her life.

In a note that was found in her pocket, she wrote:

“I can’t continue living like this. Instagram is my world. I find joy when I’m there especially when I see the extravagant lifestyles of certain people. What makes me sad is the number of likes and comments these people get when they post pictures. I, on the other hand, do not get the same reception they get. After 4 years of being on Instagram, nobody has ever liked my picture before. It hurts me a lot so i’m leaving the land of the living, with the hope of finding lasting peace and joy wherever I’m going.”

Karen was rushed to the hospital where doctors did their very best to resuscitate her.

The very first welcome she received after gaining consciousness was some dirty slaps from her parents which has sent her back into coma.
