Ghanaian professional boxers and close allies, Ayittey Powers (born Michael Okine) and Bukom Banku (real name Braimah Issah Kamoko) have declared their intentions of quitting boxing to venture into full time comedy.

The boxers, who recently fought at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, say they’ve realized comedy is their actual calling, not boxing.

Speaking to ScrewLife.Com, Bukom Banku and Ayittey Powers said many high-profile personalities have advised them to consider a career in comedy since they are very good at that. This, as claimed by them, is the best advice they’ve received in their entire life.

“After my recent fight with my brother Ayittey Powers, I announced that I would retire from boxing in the year 2021. Upon second thought, I’ve changed my mind. I want to pension off as soon as possible in order to start a career in comedy,” Bukom stated.

According to Ghana’s ‘strongest boxer’ – Ayittey Powers – his godfather, Prophet T.B. Joshua has already prophesied to him that he would one day become Africa’s finest comedian.

“My godfather told me this few years ago and I believe this is the time. I’m losing too many fights. I don’t think I was born to be a boxer. My God-given talent is to make people laugh their hearts off. People often tell me I’m very funny. Based on that, my brother Bukom and I have decided to join Funny Face, Kalybos, Basketmouth and the rest. We want to raise the bar of comedy high in Africa,” Ayittey said.

According to the two, their management teams will soon come out with official statements announcing their retirement from boxing. That, as believed by them, would be the beginning of their comedy career.
