Men are general known to be attracted by what they see with their eyes – whether the thing would send them to their early graves or not. And with the popularization of selfie, you cannot chat with a man who is interested in you without being asked for one.

A Nigerian bridegroom has cancelled all wedding plans because his soon-to-be-wife refused to send him selfies of herself.

It all started when John Okowa, a 33-year-old banker from Warri in Delta State, couldn’t hold his fire to see his soon-to-be bride in pictures. At first he tried being charming and sweet as he texted with his loving fiancée that he had been daydreaming about their wedding night.

At first the lady was flattered but John’s dallying remarks took a much darker and sinister tone. Kind requests for the selfies were soon substituted by irritating texts, which eventually gave way to outright demands. Repeatedly, his bride of the future said no.

John, who became furious for not receiving selfies from his bride-to-be cancelled all wedding plans. As if that wasn’t enough, he also asked the lady’s parents to pay him back his dowry.

In an interview with a local pressman, John explained why he had to take such a decision. According to him, he was missing his bride-to-be so he just wanted her to send him a couple of selfies for him to entertain his eyes with them.

John said it wasn’t just because of the selfie but the lady, even though they were dating, was still playing hard to get.

“We’ve been dating for 2 years, yet I do not have a single picture of her. She kept telling me she would do so after our marriage because it’s a sin to send enticing pictures to a man you are not married to. You can imagine, I haven’t even held her hand before,” he said.
